Through my many years cycling, and my Sports Performance education I have put together a program for Advanced Sports Performance Training aimed at the individual to “improve next level” performance in any sport. I call it Phil-Lates. It centers around flexibility & mobility coaching, progressive weight training, diet and recovery. All on a ‘one to one’ basis.
- Phil-Lates is my own brand of performance Pilates combined with numerous stretches including flexibility & mobility exercises. That is part 1 of the Advanced Sports Performance Training!
- Phil-Lates part 2 is the client’s specific sport ie Cycling, Running, Golf, Tennis etc. It is a related progressive weights (individual) training programme.
- Part 3 of Phil-Lates incorporates (1) Core Balance, (2) Core Strength &
- (3) Core Power exercises/ movements.
- Part 4 of Phil-Lates includes diet, nothing drastic but rather a lifestyle change. It is a new way of looking at which foods improve performance and which foods we should avoid. Part of this is central to Advanced Sports Performance Training.
- Part 5 of Phil-Lates will focus on Recovery & Active Recovery from intense training.
I’ve designed Phil-Lates to reflect my experience/ progress in my chosen sport, cycling. Drawing on my knowledge as a qualified PT trainer and Pilates Instructor. This helps to achieve my clients’ performance goals, whatever they may be. This is why Phil-Lates is perfect for Advanced Sports Performance Training.

Phil-Lates targets athletes who have already completed a few seasons of intense training. In addition, these clients usually have hands-on experience with weight training and advanced stretching techniques. Specifically, they engage in Static Stretching, where they hold targeted positions while standing, sitting, or lying down. Moreover, they practice Dynamic Stretching, using controlled movements to actively prepare their muscles, ligaments, and tendons for high-performance demands.
I have designed Phil-Lates program to enhance your current performance to where you want to be realistically. This Phil-Lates program demands intense rigorous exercises in the gym to be completed. This includes goal setting to take the client to their next level of performance. Regardless of whether it be winning a bike race or running a faster marathon or completing an Ironman event within a certain time. It is individual and progressive with realistic goals achieved in the shortest time scale possible. This is depending on the clients’ ability and chosen event.
